SolarKal Selected to Participate in
National Solar SunShot Initiative

For Immediate Release

November 1, 2017, [NY, NY] – Today, SolarKal announced that it was selected to participate in the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative’s Solar in Your Community Challenge, a $5 million prize competition that aims to expand solar electricity access.

Over the next 18 months, SolarKal will be able to enhance solar services to non-profits and community centers in New York and New Jersey. SolarKal is unique in the industry in that it’s a solar energy broker, working independently to secure competitive bids from multiple solar companies.  They manage the entire process of converting a business to solar energy, from the initial site evaluation to installation.  SolarKal has been successfully saving businesses time and money, and now with the SunShot initiative, the company plans to also focus on non-profit and other community organizations.

“We are thrilled that our team was selected to join the challenge and help bring solar to businesses in New York and New Jersey,” said SolarKal’s Founder Yaniv Kalish.  “We have introduced this unique solar brokerage model to the industry, helping save companies a minimum of 30% off energy costs.    Now, with this Award, we are able to bring less expensive solar energy options to non-profits and community centers.”

SolarKal will join teams from around the country in their pursuit of solar projects and programs that expand solar access to low- and moderate-income households and nonprofit organizations. All teams will compete for $1 million in final prizes, which will be awarded by judges based on each project or program’s innovation, impact, and replicability.

The SolarKal team will focus on enhancing solar services for non-profit organizations, including Community Centers, in New York and New Jersey.  The goal is to make the environmental and financial benefits of solar available to even smaller businesses.
